This medieval belt is inspired by an original 15th century piece that once belonged to King Erik of Pomerania who ruled the Kalmar Union from 1396 to 1439 (in present-day Sweden, Denmark and Norway) and then the Duchy of Pomerania until his death in 1459. The belt buckle features the king's motto "Help ghot un maria nu altit" (God and Mary help us at all times) just like the original!
